Sr. Amata Christi has been at SIJ since 2024. Sister teaches 2nd grade. She studied at the University of Northern British Columbia and obtained her Bachelor of Education degree in Elementary Education. She has taught 2nd grade in Austin, Texas for three years and middle school in Canada. She also is trained in Level 1 of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
Sister entered the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist in 2018. She grew up in Northern British Columbia, Canada and enjoys the outdoors and marveling at God’s beautiful creation. She loves spending time with her religious sisters, baking and writing letters to family and friends.
Her great prayer is for all her students and their families to realize that they are eternally loved by God and that they are called to be saints (and live with God forever in eternity). She looks forward, with great anticipation, to future generations calling on the intercession of these saints from her 2nd grade class, because these students, families and herself gave Jesus permission to radically transform their lives.
“The only real sadness, the only real failure, the only great tragedy in life, is not to become a saint” - Leon Bloy
