Mrs. Patricia Shukwit has been working at St Isaac Jogues for eight years as a substitute teacher and classroom aide. She brings with her twenty-plus years of experience within the Archdiocese of Detroit including: catechetical formation, youth ministry, youth in detention ministry, adult retreat coordinator, and parish ministry. Various levels of education have paved the way including: Associates in Marketing, Youth Ministry Certification (Sacred Heart Major Seminary), Basic Diploma (Sacred Heart Major Seminary), Associates of Arts in Ministry (Sacred Heart Major Seminary), Bachelor of Arts Major in Pastoral Theology (Sacred Heart major Seminary), and a Cosmetology License from Viginia Farrell (out of high school).
Mrs. Shukwit is the seventh born in a family of twelve kids. She married her husband Robert at Sweetest Heart of Mary 40 years ago this October. They have two sons and one is married. In addition, they have two beautiful grandsons (ages three and one). They are the joys of her life.
She enjoys spending time with her husband by taking little trips, exploring Michigan, spending time together as a family, camping, hiking, listening to outdoor music, playing Euchre, theatre, reading, time with friends, time with siblings, and meeting new people of all ages. Any one-on-one time spent with the grandchildren is heaven.
She finds her inner peace and fulfillment in daily Mass, Adoration, Scripture study, continuously learning about her Catholic faith, and just plain silence (her favorite) in silent retreats.
All of these life and educational experiences have brought her closer to God who uses everything we do for His good and heals us along the way. By His grace and favor she can be His instrument for others. She feels blessed to be a part of such a wonderful staff at St. Isaac Jogues.
